New Phone, Lost All Recordings?

Don't panic. You probably just logged in with the wrong account.

Updated over 2 months ago

If you just got a new phoneโ€”or reinstalled Waveโ€”and logged in only to see zero recordings, take a deep breath. Your data is almost certainly still safe and sound.

๐Ÿ” Why This Happens

Wave stores your data securely in the cloud, tied to your login methodโ€”either Google, Apple, Microsoft, or Facebook. If you use a different login method or a different email address (even a different Google account), Wave sees that as a completely separate user. No data is shared between accounts.

So when you log in and nothing's there, you're not missing your data...
โ€‹You're just in the wrong account.

๐Ÿง  Most Common Mistakes

  • You originally signed up with Google, but now logged in with Apple

  • You used your work email before, but logged in with your personal Gmail

  • You have multiple Google accounts, and picked the wrong one

  • You accidentally created a new account by tapping the wrong login option

โœ… How to Fix It

  1. Open Wave Settings

  2. Tap "Log Out"

  3. Log back inโ€”but make sure to choose the correct login method and email

If you're not sure which account you used, think back to:

  • Which email received your original Wave welcome emails

  • Which account you use in the App Store or Google Play

  • Where your Wave summaries have been emailed in the past

You can repeat the logout/login process until you find the right account. Once you do, all your past recordings, transcripts, and summaries will appear instantly.

๐Ÿ”„ Still See Nothing? Try a Restart

If you're sure you're in the right account but recordings still aren't showing up, the app may just need a refresh:

  1. Go to Settings โ†’ Help โ†’ Restart App

  2. Wave will reload and re-sync your data from the cloud

This fixes most display issues where recordings appear missing but are actually safe in the cloud.

๐Ÿ›Ÿ Recover Local Recordings

If a recording was interrupted before it could upload (app crash, phone died, etc.), Wave may have a local copy that can be recovered:

  1. Go to Settings โ†’ Help โ†’ Open File Recovery

  2. If any files are listed, tap the green refresh button to re-upload them

  3. Give it a few seconds โ€” they should begin processing automatically
