All About Folders in Wave

Create, manage, and organize your Wave sessions into folders — plus chat with AI across entire folders

Updated over 2 months ago

🧭 Getting Started with Folders

Create a Folder

  1. Go to the All Waves screen.

  2. Tap the Folders filter at the top.

  3. Hit the ➕ icon.

  4. Name your folder and pick a color.

  5. Tap Create.

📂 Managing Folders

Add Waves to Folders

  • From List View: Swipe → Add to Folder

  • From Details Screen: Tap the folder icon

Remove a Wave from a Folder

Swipe left on a session inside a folder to remove it.

Important: Removing a session from a folder just un-files it — it stays in your library. But deleting a session while inside a folder deletes it entirely.

Edit or Delete a Folder

Tap the pencil icon on any folder to:

  • Rename the folder

  • Change its color

  • Delete it (⚠️ recordings stay in your library as "unsorted")

You can also tap the three-dot menu in the top right of a folder view to delete it:

View Folder Contents

  • Tap a folder to see all included Waves.

  • Folder view shows total recordings.

  • Tap the back arrow to return to all folders.

⚡ Power Features

🗂️ Unsorted Filter

  • View all recordings not yet in a folder

  • Perfect for regular cleanup

  • Find it in the filter bar on the home screen

💬 Chat with Entire Folders

Chat with AI about every recording in a folder — like having a summary assistant for your entire project or meeting series.

How:

  1. Go to the Chat screen

  2. Tap the session selector

  3. Select a folder instead of a single recording

  4. Ask your question!

Example Prompts:

  • "Summarize all decisions from these meetings"

  • "What action items came out of this project?"

  • "What themes show up in my journal entries?"

The AI uses transcripts from all recordings in that folder to generate a holistic response.

🧩 Folder Best Practices

Smart Ways to Organize

  • By Project: e.g., "Q3 Marketing Push"

  • By Type: Meetings, Personal, Ideas, Lectures

  • By Time: Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly

  • By Priority: To-Dos, Reference, Archive

Tips for Staying Organized

  • Use names that make sense weeks or months later

  • Use similar colors for related content

  • Review your Unsorted recordings regularly

  • Avoid over-organizing: aim for 5–15 main folders

⚠️ Folder Notes & Limitations

  • A recording can be in multiple folders at the same time

  • Deleting a folder does not delete its recordings — they become "unsorted"

  • Deleting a recording from inside a folder does delete it entirely

  • Folder names and colors can be edited anytime

  • Unlimited folders — syncs across all your devices
