How to Import an Audio File into Wave

Transcribe and summarize audio from other apps

Updated over 2 weeks ago

You can bring audio into Wave in two simple ways:

  1. Share from another app (like Voice Memos, Voicemail, or any app that supports audio file sharing)

  2. Import directly from your device’s files

📱 On Mobile (iOS & Android)

Option 1: Import from the Wave App

  1. Open the Import tab in Wave.

  2. Tap Import Audio Files to browse your device.

  3. Select the file you want to bring in.

Wave will then prepare the file for transcription and summarization.

Option 2: Share from Another App

  1. Open the audio file in your other app (e.g., Voice Memos).

  2. Tap the Share button.

  3. Choose Wave from the Share options.

This will send the file directly into Wave, and you’ll see the Share Modal open automatically.

Final Step: Upload & Process

Once the file appears in Wave, tap Import. Your file will upload and be processed.

Note: Audio files can be large. Keep the app open until the upload finishes to avoid interruptions.

Done! Your file is now ready for transcription and summarization in Wave.

💻 On Web (app.wave.co)

  3. Select your audio file — supported formats include MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG, OPUS, and AIFF (up to 500 MB)

  4. Wave will upload and process the file automatically

The web app also supports drag-and-drop — just drag an audio file from your computer directly onto the page.

🖥️ On Desktop (Mac & Windows)
