File Recovery

Recover recordings on mobile that were interrupted before they could upload

Updated this week

If a mobile recording was interrupted before it could finish uploading β€” due to an app crash, phone dying, or connectivity issue β€” Wave may have saved a local copy that can be recovered.

How to Recover Files

  1. Open the Wave app

  2. Go to Settings β†’ Help β†’ Open File Recovery

  3. If any files are listed, tap the green refresh button(s) to re-upload them

  4. Give it a few seconds β€” you should see them begin processing

When to Use File Recovery

  • The app crashed during or right after a recording

  • Your phone ran out of battery while recording

  • You lost internet connection before the upload finished

  • A recording seems to be "stuck" or never appeared in your library

Tips

  • Keep the app open while files are re-uploading β€” closing it may interrupt the transfer

  • Make sure you have a stable Wi-Fi or cellular connection

  • If File Recovery shows no files, the recording may have already uploaded successfully β€” check your library or try Settings β†’ Help β†’ Restart App to refresh

Recordings Still Missing?

If File Recovery doesn't show anything, check out New Phone, Lost All Recordings? β€” you may be logged into the wrong account.

For desktop recordings that were interrupted mid-session, Wave Desktop has an automatic chunk recovery system that attempts to salvage audio data from failed uploads on its own β€” no manual step is required.
