Why Do Recordings Get Interrupted?
Wave prioritizes system-level audio events to comply with iOS and Android guidelines. This means that certain sounds and notifications will automatically pause your recording:
Incoming phone calls (including FaceTime and WhatsApp calls)
Alarms and timers
System notifications with sounds
Other apps that request audio focus
Siri or voice assistant activation
When any of these occur, Wave will pause your recording to allow the system sound to play. This prevents audio conflicts and ensures your device functions normally.
What Happens When Recording Is Interrupted?
If Wave is in the foreground (app is open):
Recording pauses automatically when the interruption occurs
Recording resumes automatically once the interruption ends
No manual intervention needed - just wait for the sound to finish
A visual indicator shows when recording is paused and resumed
If Wave is in the background (app is minimized):
Recording pauses automatically when the interruption occurs
Recording remains paused after the interruption ends
You must return to the Wave app
Tap the Resume button to continue recording
Your recording picks up exactly where it left off
Important: Your recording is safely saved up to the point of interruption. You won't lose any previously recorded content.
How to Prevent Interruptions
Enable Do Not Disturb Mode (Recommended)
The most effective way to ensure uninterrupted recordings is to enable Do Not Disturb before you start:
On iPhone:
Swipe down from the top-right corner (or up from bottom on older models)
Tap the crescent moon icon to enable Do Not Disturb
Or go to Settings → Focus → Do Not Disturb for more options
For detailed instructions, see Apple's official Do Not Disturb guide
On Android:
Swipe down from the top of your screen
Look for Do Not Disturb in your quick settings
Tap to enable (you may need to swipe down twice)
Or go to Settings → Sound → Do Not Disturb
For detailed instructions, see Google's official Do Not Disturb guide

Check storage space before starting

Keep the app in the foreground when possible for easier monitoring
Recovering from Interruptions
If your recording was interrupted:
Don't panic - Your audio is saved
Open Wave if it's in the background
