How to Customize Your Summary
Wave gives you two ways to get the perfect summary format:
Before recording ends — Pre-select your template so the summary comes out right the first time
After recording — Customize the style or language of an existing summary
Option 1: Pre-Select Your Template While Recording
This is the fastest way to get your summary in the right format — no regeneration needed!
How to do it:
While recording, look for the settings chips at the top of your screen
Tap the Template chip (shows "Default" initially)
Choose from:
Default Wave Summary — Structured notes with key points & actions
Your Saved Styles — Custom templates you've created
Pre-built Templates — Executive Board Summary, Sales Call Analysis, and more
Use the search bar to quickly find templates
Tap a template to select it — a checkmark confirms your selection
When your recording finishes processing, the summary will automatically use your chosen format.
Option 2: Customize After Recording
Already have a summary? You can change its style or language at any time.
Open the Customize Menu
On the Summary screen, tap the Customize button
You'll see two tabs: Style and Language

And others
Tap a template to instantly regenerate your summary in that format.
Saved Customizations
Your previously saved styles appear here. Tap to apply, or tap the ❌ to delete.
Add a New Customization
Want something specific? Describe your preferred format in the text field:
E.g., "Group by speaker, use concise bullet points with action items at the top."
Toggle "Save this customization" to reuse it later
Tap Apply Style Customization to regenerate
Language Tab: Translate Your Summary
Tap the Language tab to change the output language. You have two options:
Translate Summary Only
Keep the "Full Audio Retranscription" toggle off
Select your language and tap Regenerate Summary
The transcript stays in the original language; only the summary is translated
Full Retranscription
Turn the "Full Audio Retranscription" toggle on
Select your language and tap Reprocess
Wave re-transcribes the entire audio and regenerates the summary in your chosen language
Tap Done when finished to return to your summary.
