Connect Wave to Codex
Give Codex your meeting transcripts and action items in two commands — in the terminal, the ChatGPT desktop app, or the Codex IDE extension.
Codex can read your Wave meetings while it works — pull the transcript of a planning call, turn what a customer said into a ticket, or check the action items before it starts. One setup covers the Codex CLI, the ChatGPT desktop app, and the Codex IDE extension, because they share a config.
Connect
Add Wave:
codex mcp add wave --url https://mcp.wave.coSign in:
codex mcp login waveA browser window opens on Wave. Sign in with the account you record with, and you're done.
Ask, for example: "Read the transcript of yesterday's planning call and update the roadmap in the README to match what we decided."
Try asking
- "List my meetings from this week and pull the transcript of the design review."
- "Find the customer call where they described the export bug and quote exactly what they said."
- "What are the open action items from today's standup? Turn them into a checklist in TODO.md."
Codex can search and read your sessions and can save action items or file sessions into folders. It can't delete a recording or change a transcript.
If it doesn't work
- Wave finds no sessions. You signed in to a Wave account with no recordings — usually a different Google or Apple login. Run
codex mcp logout wave, thencodex mcp login waveand pick the right account. - Tools don't appear. Type
/mcpin the composer to check Wave is listed and signed in. In the desktop app, restart after adding a server. - Sign-in never finishes. Finish it in the browser window Codex opened, then run
codex mcp login waveagain.
Disconnect
codex mcp remove waveor delete Wave under Settings → MCP servers.
