How to Connect Wave to ChatGPT

Bring your Wave meetings into ChatGPT — search transcripts, pull summaries, and cite real sessions in chats, company knowledge, and Deep Research.

Connect Wave to ChatGPT and it can answer from your actual meetings instead of guessing. Ask about a call, a decision, or an exact quote and ChatGPT searches your Wave sessions, retrieves the transcript, and cites the session it came from. It works in normal chats, in company knowledge, and in Deep Research.

Before you start

  • A Wave account — the same one you record with. Connecting is free on Wave's side.
  • A paid ChatGPT plan. Custom apps aren't available on the free plan.
  • ChatGPT on the web or the desktop app.

Add Wave to ChatGPT

Open Settings → Apps → Advanced Settings and turn on Developer Mode.

Create a custom app. Name it Wave.

For the URL, paste https://mcp.wave.co — exactly that, with nothing after it.

For authentication, choose OAuth, then create the app.

Sign in to Wave in the browser window that opens. There's no extra permission screen — once you're signed in you're sent straight back to ChatGPT.

In a chat, pick Wave from the app picker and ask your question.

Personal Pro workspaces currently support read and fetch actions only.

Company knowledge and Deep Research

Wave ships two extra tools built to OpenAI's research interface — search and fetch — so ChatGPT can use your meetings as a source in company knowledge and Deep Research, not just in ordinary chats. search returns matching sessions as citable results, and fetch returns a session's summary plus its speaker-labeled transcript. Both are read-only, so research runs can never change anything in Wave.

What ChatGPT can do with your Wave data

Wave exposes twelve tools. Eight are read-only: semantic search across your sessions, browsing recent ones, listing your folders, pulling a session's summary and details, retrieving a transcript (plain, segmented, or speaker-labeled), reading action items, plus the two research tools above.

Four are focused writes: saving action items back to a session, creating a folder, and adding or removing a session from a folder.

ChatGPT can't delete sessions and can't edit your recordings or transcripts. Writes are limited to action items and folder membership, and everything stays scoped to the Wave account you signed in with. On personal Pro workspaces, write actions aren't available at all.

Ask for what you want

  • "What decisions and unresolved questions came up in my recent product meetings?"
  • "Find where we discussed pricing and summarize how our thinking changed."
  • "Pull the exact quotes and action items from my latest customer call."

To narrow a request, name a folder or a tag: "Only use sessions in my work folder" or "Only search sessions tagged roadmap." Tags match exactly, including capitalization; folder names don't.

Disconnect or revoke access

Remove the app in ChatGPT to stop using it. To cut access from Wave's side, open MCP Integration settings — that page isn't linked from the Integrations tab yet, so use the direct link.
