Using Wave on Multiple Devices

Record on one device, review on another — how sign-in, syncing, and device handoff work across phone, watch, desktop, and the web.

Your Wave library lives in the cloud, not on any one device. Record a meeting on your laptop, read the summary on your phone on the way home, share it from the web that evening — there's nothing to export, sync, or move by hand. The only thing that matters is signing in the same way everywhere.

Where Wave runs

For what each one is best at, see all the ways to Wave.

Sign in the same way everywhere

Wave accounts are tied to a sign-in provider: Google, Apple, or Microsoft. There is no email-and-password login. Use the same provider — and the same email address on that provider — on every device.

The sign-in screen shows one large button (Continue with Google, for example) plus icon buttons for the other providers. Whichever you used last is marked Last used.

Facebook sign-in has been retired, and the automatic merge below doesn't cover it. If you originally signed up with Facebook, sign in with Google, Apple, or Microsoft — you'll land in a new account — then tap Settings, Help & Support, Chat with Support and we'll transfer your recordings from the old one.

If you pick a different provider

Wave now links providers for you. If you sign in with Microsoft on a new device but your account was created with Google, Wave asks you to confirm with Google once, then attaches Microsoft to that same account. From then on, either one signs you in and all your recordings are there.

The merge covers Google, Apple, and Microsoft, and it matches on your email address, so it can't help when the two providers hand Wave different addresses — most commonly when Apple's Hide My Email gives Wave a private relay address instead of your real one. That creates a genuinely separate account. See what is Apple Private Relay, and new phone, lost all recordings? if your library looks empty.

Add more ways to sign in

Rather than relying on the merge, you can connect providers up front:

  • Phone — Settings, then Account, then Login Methods. Each provider shows Connected or Connect.
  • Web — Settings, then the Account tab, then Linked accounts, where you Connect or Disconnect each provider.
  • Desktop — Settings shows Manage login methods, which opens the web page above.

You must keep at least one login method connected. More detail in login methods.

Hopping between devices

  • In the phone app, Settings, then More from Wave, then Wave Web App opens app.wave.co already signed in.
  • On a session in Wave Desktop, Open on Web opens that same session in your browser, authenticated.
  • On a session page on the web, Open in Desktop hands it to the desktop app (it appears on macOS and Windows browsers).

What syncs and what doesn't

Sessions, transcripts, summaries, notes, photos, folders, favorites, action items, and Recently Deleted are all account-level — they show up everywhere within moments. So do preferences like title format, custom vocabulary, and your default recording language.

A few things stay local:

  • Appearance (Light, Dark, System) is per-device — the web setting spells it out: "Choose how Wave looks on this device".
  • Watch recordings upload through your paired phone, so they appear only after that phone is online. If one seems stuck, use Settings, then Capture Sources, then Sync Watch Recordings.
  • Your contact email is separate from your login email. Changing Contact Email in Settings changes where summaries are sent, not how you sign in — and your login email can't be changed at all.
