Connecting Apple Calendar

Apple Calendar support brings the calendars on your device into Wave — your iCloud calendars, plus any account your Calendar app shows. Once connected, recordings you make during meetings pick up the event's title and attendees, and your schedule appears in Wave's Calendar tab. From the Wave mobile app or Wave for Web you can also have a Wave bot join meetings that have a video link.

Unlike Google and Outlook, Apple Calendar doesn't use a cloud sign-in. Wave reads the calendars directly from your iPhone or Mac and syncs them while the app runs. Wave only reads your events — it never creates, edits, or deletes anything on your calendar.

Connect it

To change your selection later on iPhone, tap the sliders icon on the Calendar tab to open Recording Settings — under Calendars, tap Choose calendars… under Apple Calendar. Calendar selections are per-device: your iPhone and your Mac each choose their own calendars to sync.

How syncing works

Your device is the source, so syncing happens from your device. On iPhone: every time you open or return to the app, shortly after you change an event in the Calendar app while Wave is open, every few minutes while you're in the app, when a recording starts and ends, and whenever you pull down to refresh the Calendar tab. iOS may also let Wave sync in the background now and then, but that isn't guaranteed. Automatic syncs wait while you're recording so they don't compete with it. On Mac: continuously while the desktop app is running.

If Wave hasn't run in a while, your events in Wave can be behind your calendar — that's expected, not a broken connection. Opening the app catches everything up. If your iPhone hasn't synced for more than a day, the Calendar tab and Recording Settings show "Apple Calendar last synced 2 days ago" (or however long it's been) with Sync now.

Recording Apple Calendar meetings

Meetings with a Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams link get the same record switch as any other calendar meeting: open the event on the Calendar tab and turn on Record this meeting, and Wave's bot joins at the start time. See recording calendar meetings.

Auto-record covers Apple Calendar meetings too. On iPhone, turn on Automatically record meetings under Auto-record in Recording Settings; it's there with any calendar connected, Apple Calendar alone included. Wave then schedules its bot for your Apple Calendar meetings that have a meeting link. On the web, the same setting is Join every meeting automatically in Calendar settings on the Calendar page.

Keep notifications enabled for the best experience: Wave reminds you 15 minutes before it joins a meeting (tap the notification to review or turn recording off), and can schedule bots for your whole synced calendar. With notifications off, Wave only schedules bots up to 48 hours ahead, so it needs you to open the app within two days of a meeting you've switched on.

All-day events and events without a meeting link can't take a bot — record those in person with the record button, and Wave matches the recording to the meeting on your calendar.

Disconnecting

On iPhone, in Recording Settings, under Calendars, use Disconnect under Apple Calendar. This removes the synced events from Wave and cancels any bots scheduled for Apple Calendar meetings. Recordings you've already made are untouched.

On a Mac, use Disconnect on the Apple Calendar card in the desktop app's calendar Settings. That disconnects Apple Calendar for your whole account: "Synced Apple events and scheduled recordings will be removed everywhere, including your iPhone."
