Alternative Emails
Save up to 10 extra addresses so you can pick who a session summary gets emailed to, without changing your account email.
Alternative Emails are extra addresses you keep on file so that when you email a session, you can choose where it lands — your work inbox, your assistant, a shared project address — instead of always your account email. You can save up to 10.
Add an address
Both fields are required, and the address has to be a real-looking one — otherwise you get "Please enter a valid email address". The footer keeps a running count: "3/10 alternative emails".
Labels come from the phone app. The web list shows the addresses on their own, so if you want an address to appear as "Work" rather than as itself, add it — and manage it — from your phone.
Use one when you share
The addresses show up wherever Wave emails a session for you.
Open a session, tap Share and Export, and look at Send via Email. The address underneath it is the one Wave will use. Tap the chevron beside it to open Select Email Address, where Primary sits at the top and your labelled addresses follow. Pick one, then send.
For what actually goes in that email, and how to send every session automatically, see emailing your Wave summaries and the rest of sharing and exporting.
Edit or remove
On your phone, each row has a pencil to change the label (Edit Label → Update) and a trash icon to remove the address, which asks "Are you sure you want to remove name@example.com?" first. On the web, hover a row and click the trash icon — you'll see Email removed.
Remove labelled addresses from the phone app. Web removal matches on the plain address, so an address you added on your phone can reappear in the list after the web confirmation.
Removing an address only takes it out of the picker. Nothing you've already sent is affected.
An alternative email is a recipient, not a login and not your account email. It doesn't change where routine account mail goes, and it can't be used to sign in. To change the address Wave sends summaries and notifications to by default, edit Email in Settings on your phone or Contact Email on the web. To add another way to sign in, see Login Methods.
Limits and details
- 10 addresses maximum. On the web the Add Email button greys out once you hit 10; on your phone you'll be told you may have "reached the limit".
- Duplicates are rejected — an address can only be in the list once.
- The list syncs across your devices, so an address added on your phone shows up in the web picker and vice versa.
- Wave Desktop doesn't have an Alternative Emails screen. Manage them on your phone or the web app.
