Opening a Session Someone Shared with You
Claim an invite link, find the session under Shared with me, and see what you can and can't do with someone else's Wave.
Someone sent you a Wave link that starts with app.wave.co/i/. Open it, sign in to a free Wave account, and the session joins your Shared with me list on every device you use. You read it; you don't own it.
Open the link
You only claim a link once. After that the session is tied to your account, so it's there on your phone, on the web, and in Wave Desktop without opening the link again.
Where it shows up afterwards
Tap the filter above your library and choose Shared with me. The option appears as soon as one session has been shared with you. Before that, the list reads Nothing shared yet.
What you can do with it
The session opens read-only, marked View only, with Shared by name in the header. You get up to three tabs — Summary, Transcript, Action items — plus the audio or video player.
What you can't do: edit the summary or transcript, rename it, correct speakers, chat with it, export or download it, or pass it on to someone else. Shared sessions also stay out of your search results, out of Wave Assistant, and out of your folders.
While the owner is still recording
If the owner shared the session before their recording finished processing, you'll see Still processing… instead of a summary. It fills itself in:
- iPhone & Android — the screen refreshes on its own; pull down to refresh it yourself.
- Web — "Still processing. This page refreshes automatically."
- Desktop — "Name is still processing this session. It updates here automatically."
Later edits by the owner — a new title, a regenerated summary — show up the next time you open the session.
If it disappears
A shared session is the owner's. It leaves your list when they delete it or when they remove your access. If a session vanishes or a link stops working, see Troubleshooting Share Links.
