Sharing a Session with Another Wave User
Send someone an invite link to one session. They sign in to a free Wave account and read it inside Wave — no copies, no editing.
Wave can hand one session to another Wave user. You create an invite link, they open it and sign in to a free Wave account, and the session shows up under Shared with me in their apps. Nothing is copied. They read your session, read-only, and you can take that access back whenever you want.
This is not the same thing as a public link. A public link opens for anyone in a browser with no account. An invite link needs a Wave account, shows you exactly who has access, and can be revoked person by person. See Public Links vs Sharing with a Wave User.
Create an invite link
Then paste it wherever you like — a message, an email, a Slack thread.
What the link is
Invite links look like https://app.wave.co/i/… and they behave like a document link:
- Anyone holding the link can claim it. Whoever opens it signs in to a free Wave account, and from then on that person has access to that one session.
- Access is per person, not per link. Once someone has opened the link, they keep access even after you reset the link.
- Links expire 30 days after you create them. Access already claimed doesn't expire.
- Wave creates a fresh link each time you ask for one, and never shows an old one again. That's normal — every link you created stays valid until it expires or you reset it.
- It's free, for you and for them, on every plan.
What the other person gets
They see the session under Shared with me and can:
- Read the summary.
- Read the transcript, with speakers and timestamps.
- See the action items.
- Play the audio (or video).
They can't edit the session, rename it, chat with it, export it, download it, or share it on. They can't see anything else in your library, and they can't see your public link settings or a password you set there. The session header tells them it came from you — "Shared by your name".

If the Share with a Wave user section isn't in your share sheet, update the app. The person receiving the link doesn't need any particular version: the link opens in any browser once they sign in.
Keeping an eye on it
Everyone who has claimed the link shows up in People with access in the same section. From there you can remove one person or reset the link. See Managing Who Has Access to a Shared Session.

Yes. The recipient sees it as still processing, and the summary, transcript, and action items fill in as your session finishes.
Not yet. An invite gives the summary, transcript, action items, and audio. If you want to control exactly what a viewer sees, use a public link instead.
It disappears for everyone you shared it with. Restoring it from Recently Deleted brings their access back.
