Family Plan Usage
Share one App Store Wave subscription with your Apple Family group — everyone gets Pro, everyone keeps their own private library.
Every Wave subscription sold through the App Store is family-shareable. If you buy Wave Pro on your iPhone or iPad and have Apple Family Sharing turned on, everyone in your family group gets Pro at no extra cost — while keeping their own separate, private Wave account.
How it works
- One person in the family group buys Wave Pro through the App Store.
- Apple extends that subscription to the other members of the group automatically.
- Each person signs in to Wave with their own account. Recordings, folders, Voice ID profiles, and settings are never shared between accounts — only the subscription is.
- If the original subscriber cancels or the subscription lapses, everyone in the group drops back to the free tier. See Wave plans and pricing.
Family Sharing itself is set up in iOS, not in Wave: Settings → your name → Family.
Setting it up on a family member's device
The family member has to be signed in to iOS with the Apple Account that's in the family group. If Settings → Plan & Usage still shows a 30-minute limit after restoring, that's almost always the reason.
What isn't shared
- The subscription only, not the content. Nobody in the group can see anyone else's recordings, transcripts, summaries, or chats. If you actually want to send someone a session, use sharing and exporting instead.
- Purchases made outside the App Store. Apple Family Sharing applies to App Store purchases. A subscription bought on Google Play or on the web through Stripe covers the account that bought it.
- Billing control. Only the person who bought it can change or cancel the plan — see managing your subscription.
Family sharing vs. a team account
Family Sharing is the right tool for a household. If you need to cover coworkers, your company can buy Wave centrally and hand out license keys instead — that works on every platform, not just iOS. See joining a team account.
